Core single-PDF compression (with Low, Medium, and High compression presets, up to 10 history items, and up to 3 favorites) is completely free to use and supported by Google AdMob advertisements. For users who want more, we offer optional ZipPDF Pro subscriptions (Monthly or Yearly via Google Play) that remove all ads and unlock Batch Compress, Merge PDF, Split PDF, Protect PDF, PDF to Image, Image to PDF, custom output file renaming, and unlimited history & favorites.
Absolutely not. All PDF compression and document tools (Batch Compress, Merge, Split, Password Protect, PDF to Image, and Image to PDF) run 100% locally on your device. We have no servers that receive your files or document passwords — your documents never leave your phone.
No internet connection is required for PDF compression or any PDF tools — all document processing happens locally on your Android device, even in airplane mode. However, an internet connection is used to load Google AdMob ads in the free version, manage consent preferences, purchase or verify optional ZipPDF Pro subscriptions via Google Play Billing (managed with RevenueCat), or download app updates from Google Play.
No. ZipPDF does not request broad storage permission (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). Instead, it uses Android's modern Storage Access Framework (SAF) and file picker. This means you choose exactly which file to share with the app — your other files are never accessible to ZipPDF.
ZipPDF never uploads your PDF files, images, or document passwords to any server — all file processing remains 100% on-device. In the free version, the app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements, and for optional ZipPDF Pro subscriptions, the app uses Google Play Billing and the RevenueCat SDK to verify subscription entitlements. These third-party services may process limited device, advertising, or purchase identifiers as detailed in our Privacy Policy.

ZipPDF supports Android 7.0 (Nougat) and above. This covers the vast majority of Android devices currently in use. The app is optimized for modern Android versions and takes advantage of the latest Android APIs for better performance and security.
Online PDF tools typically require you to upload confidential PDFs to remote servers. ZipPDF performs all PDF compression, merging, splitting, password protection, and conversion locally on your device, so your files never leave your phone. Advertising (in the free tier) and subscription verification are completely separate from your local PDF processing.
Compression results vary depending on the PDF content. PDFs with many images or graphics typically achieve the best compression (up to 90% size reduction). Text-heavy PDFs may compress less. On average, users report 60–85% size reduction. ZipPDF will show you the before and after file sizes.
ZipPDF uses intelligent compression algorithms that aim to minimize file size while preserving readability. For most documents, the visual quality is maintained at a perfectly readable level. If you need to share a PDF by email or WhatsApp (which have attachment size limits), ZipPDF is ideal.
